Nigeria Confirms Ebola Case Amid Regional Spread
Nigeria confirmed an Ebola case in its capital, Abuja, after a woman who arrived from Uganda tested positive for the virus. Health Minister Muhammad Pate stated authorities are tracing 44 contacts.
The patient, who began showing symptoms on October 7, was hospitalized on October 11. Uganda's Ministry of Health stated the woman had only transited through Uganda and that she is a Nigerian woman who had been on a business trip to Congo's eastern region.
The U.S. Embassy in Kenya has raised its travel advisory to Level 3, citing increased Ebola risk from the regional outbreak, alongside concerns about crime, kidnapping, and terrorism.
